Is love entertainment?

A student asked me after class this morning if love is a form of entertainment. I am intrigued by the idea. When you think about it the events that occur when dating, which is how many fall in love, are entertaining. However, what about when you are in a committed relationship such as a marriage and there is no more courtship; is love entertaining then? What do you think?

  1. I believe that true love is a form of entertainment, when "entertainment" is used loosely. "Entertainment" can be defined as the providing of enjoyment and amusement, but I've noticed that it is generally used to describe an action or something intentionally created to provide enjoyment. Love, while not being a direct action or man-made source of enjoyment, is perhaps one of the most enjoyable emotional responses, resulting in a sort of euphoria at times. Since the definition of "entertainment" is not exactly clear-cut, I consider love a form of entertainment.

  2. If you are talking about the actual emotion being entertainment then then I don't think it is becasue I have never heard of some one being entertained by being happy. the thing you do with some one that your in love with can be entertainment though.

  3. Love is not entertainment. Love is a feeling. i am going to keep my response short because it is obvious there is no right or wronng answer. for ex; a man loving baseball cannot be compared to a man loving his wife and kids. you can "love" entertainment but you cannot be entertained by "love".
